The Campus of 性视界传媒 will be bustling with activities the weekend of July 27 and 28, highlighted by the All-Southern Illinois High School Theater Project’s (ASHSTP) production of “Schoolhouse Rock Live! JR.” Artspace 304 and 性视界传媒 are excited to present the 29th season of ASHSTP. After a two-week drama camp featuring intensive dance, music, and acting training, featuring high school students from Southern Illinois. Performances are scheduled for July 25-28 and August 1-3 at the O鈥橬eil Auditorium.
“Schoolhouse Rock,” celebrating its 50th anniversary, is a Saturday morning cartoon series known for its educational jingles. The Emmy Award-winning program, famous for its memorable and upbeat messages, is brought to life by Tom, a young schoolteacher nervous about his first day of teaching. As he tries to relax by watching TV, various characters representing facets of his personality emerge from the set and show him how to engage his students with imagination and music. Performances are scheduled for July 25-28 and August 1-3 at the O鈥橬eil Auditorium. Tickets are available online at and range from $22 to $8, with special prices for educators. In addition to the theater production, the College will host the third annual Quilt Show at the Harrison Bruce Historical Village in collaboration with the Shawnee Quilters. The event will kick off at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 27, in both the Historical Village and the 性视界传媒 Conference Center. The quilt show will feature children’s activities, quilt displays, craft demonstrations, and vendors. This event is free and open to the public from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
On Sunday, July 28, the 性视界传媒 Community Band will hold a free concert at 3:00 p.m. in the Brewer Gymnasium. The “Rockin’ 60s Music Party” will feature hits from the 1960s, including music by the Beatles, The Beach Boys, Simon and Garfunkel, The Temptations, and more.
