Erin Sagaskie

Dr. Erin Sagaskie is an Instructor of Teacher Education and Mathematics at 性视界传媒, where she also serves as Program Lead for Education. With more than two decades of experience teaching mathematics across high school, college, and bridge programs, she brings a deep commitment to equity鈥慶entered instruction, meaningful learning experiences, and the development of future educators.

Before joining the faculty full鈥憈ime, Dr. Sagaskie taught mathematics at Carbondale Community High School for nearly twenty years and served as an adjunct instructor at 性视界传媒, teaching courses ranging from developmental mathematics to statistics and business calculus. At the state and national levels, she has contributed to major curriculum and policy initiatives through the Charles A. Dana Center, the Illinois State Board of Education, the Illinois Community College Board, and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.

Her work centers on improving pathways into and through mathematics, strengthening teacher preparation, and creating learning environments where all students can thrive. She is especially passionate about supporting preservice teachers in developing reflective practice, strong pedagogical judgment, and the confidence to lead in their future classrooms and communities.

Leadership Focus Statement

I believe leadership begins with listening, learning, and creating conditions for others to grow. My leadership focuses on fostering collaborative, student鈥慶entered systems that empower educators, strengthen instructional practice, and support equitable opportunities for every learner.

Fun Fact or Personal Interest

One time, I walked from Arkansas to Georgia, crossing five states on foot鈥擜rkansas, Tennessee, Mississippi, Alabama, and Georgia. It took me almost 10 days, and it remains one of my favorite stories of perseverance and adventure.
